“Keram Kaakan Kutti Kootam” & Student Parliament
“Keram kaakan kutti kootam” translates to “Group of children to protect Coconut”.
“Keram Kaakkaan Kutti kootam” was a districtwise presentation competition held in partnership with Coconut Development Board on various topics related to coconut.
Each student was given 10 minutes to present on the problems faced by coconut farmers in the state of Kerala, problems faced in marketing coconut produce and various other issues related to coconut farming in Kerala.
The competition was held on 13th and 14th May 2013 for the registered students in their respective districts.
The winners ie. the first 5 students of the competition were given cash prizes of Rs. 5000/- each.
Student Parliament was held on 27th May 2013 at Vylopally Samskrithi Bhavan, Thiruvananthapuram.
The function was inaugurated by the Honorable Speaker of Kerala State Legislative Assembly, Sri. G. Karthikeyan.
The members of the Student Parliament were the 70 winners of the Keram Kaakan Kuttikootam contest.
The Hon. Speaker distributed the certificates, medals and cash prizes for the District level winners of “Keram Kaakan Kutti Kootam”.
The 5 member teams representing the 14 districts of Kerala represented the problems related to the coconut farmers of their respective districts and solutions to solve the problems in the Student Parliament.
