To mark the importance of International Year of Soils 2015 Mathrubhumi SEED and Federal Bank jointly organised the Prakrithikkoru Kaiyoppu Programme at the Federal Towers, Marine Drive, Kochi. The programme was to kick start this years (2015-16) SEED activities with the theme of 'Mannil Valarthaam; Jeevante Ilakal'. Seven Gem of SEED award winners of the last six years of SEED were felicitated in the function by handing over 'Curry leaf tree saplings to them. Thushara Pradeep, Ameera Beegom, Parvathy Krishnan, Alan, Jishnu, Amal and Dhanesh P were the Gem of Seeds participated in the programme. It was done with a view to give importance to promoting organic farming in our daily lives. The Best teacher coordinator award winners from various schools were also present at the programme. Students from three active schools viz., 1, Panangad VHSS, 2, Nalanda Public School, 3, Bhavans Vidyamandir, Eroor participated in the programme. As part of Prakrithikkoru Kaiyoppu Sri. Shyam Srinivasan pasted his hand print on to the canvas and the students followed him marking a better and greener future of our Earth. Students sang environmental songs in the background Lead by Sri. Gopakumar V, Regional Manager, Mathrubhumi Kochi. Sri. Madanan, Art Editor, Mathrubhumi presented a portrait of Sri SHyam Srinivasan, Chairman, Federal bank and captured the moment in a speed drawing of Prakrithikkoru Kaiyoppu. The programme was a great success and an innovative event to promote the International Year of Soils.
